From Airbed to Corset

Music festivals generate a significant amount of waste, with an average of 23,500 tonnes of waste produced each year in the UK alone. I witnessed first-hand the waste left behind at festivals, and it’s something I’d like to offer a solution to.

My proposal is to use some of the waste to create wearables – then wearing them at festivals, hopefully raising the conversation around the waste, so that festival goers are less likely to leave as much waste.

I found a discarded airbed at a festival in 2022, and decided to develop it into wearables. I screen-printing my design (using flocking) onto the airbed to create the material for my wearable. I then developed both a bucket hat and corset.
